All washed up!

As I sit surrounded by 8 piles of laundry sorted into nice, neat loads (No. I am not exaggerating. I wish I were.), I am reminded of all the things that I have actually washed and dried in my good old Kenmores.

Things that have survived a trip through the washer and dryer . . .

A tube of Chapstick
My Sam's card
A barrette
My credit card (Yes. It still worked . . . unfortunately for me!)
paperclips
money (Both bills and change. Actually, the bills come out all nice and hot and crisp. If I was OCD, I would probably do this for all of my money.)
A beer bottle cap
Hairbands
Kiddie shoes
A nail file
A tape measure
Rocks from the yard

Things that have bit the dust in my washer or dryer . . .

A Crayola washable marker (Ha!)
Assorted crayons. . . (The washer was no problem, but getting the melted crayon wax off the inner dryer drum was maddening!)
A Buzz Lightyear figurine
My lip gloss
A paycheck
My cell phone (Special thanks goes to Ethan on that one!)
A Pamper ( One that started out clean thank goodness!)
Cat food
Gum (I wanted to shoot myself on that one.)

And now, I guess I just want to know . . . Am I the only one that this happens to? Have you all washed and dried crazy things too??

Just asking.

  1. A flash drive, twice. It still lives too. They must be sealed really good to be washed. I did the cell phone ones, destroyed that. Chapstick seems to be okays as long as it's washed, not dried. :o) All money that is washed becomes mine. I have made at least $20.00 since I started doing that. Mostly change but once in awhile a dollar or two. Lots of kleenex and match books, they don't make it either.
Crayons and gum make the worse mess, it takes forever to get it out of there.
At least we don't have to beat the clothes on a rock and hang on the line all the time.
Have a great week Annie. Take care and God Bless!!

    1. @Julie - Well, some flash drives are sturdy enough to stand the water. But if it is frequently submerge in water, expect it to deteriorate early. - Marko

  2. I have washed 2 cell phones, countless tubes of Chapstick, pens, cough drops, gum (terrible!), money, a wallet and a bunch of other things that I can't think of right now. You'd think I would start checking pockets.

  5. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I agree- you do have nice hair. This is so gross, but I washed a pair of old gym pants that I wore to cut my yorkie's hair and ALL our clothes were covered in dog hair. I should have just thrown them away!

  6. Chap Sticks have gone through our wash repeatedly, especially since I'm addicted. But the times that were really bad it was hubs' fault---like a cherry Chap Stick + NEW white sheets---GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRR. And a used (but wet only) Pull Up recently went through, thanks to my daughter yanking her jammies off with it and putting it all in her hamper. And then I dumped contents of said hamper into washer without paying attention. Ugh.

  8. I washed the remote many times, inhalers, ID badges, crayola markers, vis a vis,dog chews, and wallets. This year I found a Christmas ornament that survived (a bell). I just hope I never wash mom mom or dad's teeth. LOL Mom

  10. Love the blog. I'm impressed the chapstick survived the dryer. I just washed one the other day but maybe its the power of the Kenmore because only the casing survived. I love the winter because of the countless tissues I was. Nothing like tissue balls in a pocket. Hoping by from SITS.
