I Yell. Suck It Up.

I'm a yeller.

My high pitched voice can often be heard calling things like, "Whose underwear are these right in the middle of the hallway?" Or maybe, "Do not squirt your sister!" as I call from the protection of the dining room.

I yell. I am OK with it. It's my style.

But recently, after picking Ethan up from a playdate, he posed this question on the ride home.

"Mom, did you know that there are moms that do not yell? Isn't that amazing?"

After wiping the tears of laughter from my eyes, my response?

"Honey, I know that there are moms that do not yell. God just didn't happen to give you one of them."

Case closed.

I yell.

Suck it up.

So, give it up. Are you a lover or a fighter? Or a yeller?

  1. hahahaha! That is FABULOUS. I don't have kids but my husband does that to me sometimes with his crappy "We don't have to yell to speak to each other." Uhhhh...NO. I have to yell. It makes me feel better. :)

    Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!!

  3. Love it! I can be a yeller but I try not to be because that just freaks Ellie out more. But sometimes a yell is the only appropriate response. ;)

  4. I yell. No way I could get away with NOT yelling. In fact, if there ARE moms out there that do not yell I really wonder how they function...

    Visiting from SITS!

  6. Love this. I am a yeller. I keep telling the kids that I'm just talking louder in the hopes that they'll actually hear me.

  7. I am a yeller! My sister isn't a yeller and she has 10 kids...so I know it can be done. (This may be the biggest reason that my daughter voted her the best mom instead of me.) But there are times when yelling just feels good. Sad, but true!

  8. I'm a lover who yells a whole lot, so it could be mistaken for being a fighter.

  9. I yell a lot, and am so relieved I'm not alone.
I've often read that yelling can be far more damaging than other things, which makes me feel badly...but I do it anyway. I dunno....

  11. I love this! I can be a yeller at times, but it's usually my hubby, so I try extra hard to be the peaceful one. It's easier as the kids get older. Tell him you yell because you love him and want to be sure he hears you!

  12. He should consider himself lucky not to have one of those wacky moms who just smile and look the other way when he's causing chaos :)

  14. I TRY not to be a yeller. I really do! But sometimes it just spews out (devil control I think). Oh well, there could be WORSE things!

  15. Too funny. I'm a yeller too. I try to count, walk away, smile sweetly but it all usually ends up in yelling. I just try to yell TO rather than AT my daughter!
