The Dishwasher

Summer has only just begun, but Ethan is already at full speed.

My key to managing Ethan's energy - keeping him busy.

Yesterday, I decided to start him on the dishes.  After all, at 5, he still thinks that dishes are "fun," and  he "wants" to wash them.  I figured I might as well get on board before he changes his mind!

Here is the dishwasher himself!

It took him an hour and 1/2 a container of liquid soap to wash approximately five bowls and cups.  Paul and I had to use bath towels to clean up the water on the counter and the floor. 

A mess?! Yes!

But well worth it when you take into account that E was happily busy for an hour.  

Tomorrow's plan:  weeding and then dishes.

That way he can play in mud, and then he can wash off the dirt while he washes off the dishes.
